Chapter 09

Account and problems

Logging in, the app on your phone, privacy, and things that go wrong.

09.01

I cannot log in.

Reset your password, and check which way you signed up in the first place.

  • If you signed up with Google, use the Google button rather than a password — there may not be a password on the account at all.
  • If you signed up with an email address, use Forgot password. The reset arrives by email.
  • Check the address you are typing. An account made with one address cannot be reached from another.

Heads up

Do not make a second account to get around it. Your demos, claps and applications stay on the first one, and merging them afterwards is a support job.

Can I put this on my phone's home screen?

Yes. Add it from your browser and it opens like an app.

  • On iPhone: open the site in Safari, press Share, then Add to Home Screen.
  • On Android: open it in Chrome, then Install app or Add to Home screen from the browser menu.

It then runs full screen with its own icon, and stays signed in between visits.

My upload will not play.

Usually it is still converting. Give it a few minutes before assuming it failed.

Video is converted after it arrives so it plays on every device, and that takes a few minutes for a long clip. Until it finishes the card says it is converting.

If it is still not playing well after that, it is worth checking the file size against the limit and trying a re-export. If a re-upload does not fix it, send us the link.

Can I change what emails and alerts I get?

Yes, in your settings. Anything about money or safety is not optional.

Notification preferences sit in your profile settings, split by what they are about. Every marketing email also carries an unsubscribe link.

Worth knowing

Transactional messages — a receipt, a payout, a password reset, a decision on something you applied to — are not switchable off. They are the record of something that happened to your account.

Who can see what on my profile?

Your work and tags are public. Your contact details, location code and numbers are not.

  • Public: your name, photo, bio, tags, demos, posts, events, and the city line.
  • Private: your email address, your postal code and its coordinates, your view counts, and your payout details.
  • Yours alone: saved items, playlists, and anything in My Hub.

How do I delete my account?

Ask us and we will delete it and the data with it. It cannot be undone.

Deleting an account removes it and the content on it. Anything anybody bought from you is handled separately so buyers do not lose what they paid for.

Heads up

If it is a membership you want to stop rather than the account, cancel the membership instead. That keeps your profile, your demos and your followers.

None of this answered it.

Tell us what happened and we will look at it.

Say what you were trying to do, what happened instead, and the link to the thing it happened on. That is usually enough for us to reproduce it without a second round of questions.
